Elder Nominee Testimonies

I was raised in a Christian home my entire life; I was taught about Jesus at a young age and attended church and a Christian school from young on. I have been blessed to be surrounded by Christ like family and friends in my early years of life. My parents greatest desire was that we follow Jesus and dedicate our lives to Him. At the age of 10 I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Our home was a safe place, and I grew up with loving siblings and relationships that are still bonded today. In my late teens things started to go wrong, looking back today I see that I as a person was always someone easily influenced, and I liked to follow the crowd that was popular. I was not someone who liked to be front and center of it all but close enough to be included in the group. This lead me down a 6–7-year path of destruction and trouble. I fell away from what I’d been taught. I followed a dark path that led to a world of shame, guilt and loneliness. I was trying to follow something that kept leading me further down the wrong path. I began to realize that there was a part of me that wanted to be like those I followed and be someone important, but that someone never fulfilled my desires. Through some serious life changing events and nearly loosing a friend to cancer, God shook me. I was afraid and knew there was something better out there. I started to call on God to save me from this world I felt trapped in. Through the Grace of God and Prayer, I found myself searching for something that had real meaning, to follow someone that truly felt satisfying, to try and be like someone that brought rest, peace and joy and that was Jesus and Jesus alone. I began to understand that the desires I had to be someone and follow someone had been in the wrong place. With time and the guidance of close friends I changed my life around, got baptized, and married. I now have a beautiful wife and two sons whom I’m proud to serve and lead towards a life with Jesus. My greatest desire is to always draw closer to God and learn from Him each day so I can model a life with Jesus and be a man of God for my wife and our two boys. I have grown in my faith and spiritual maturity only by being obedient to what God calls me to be, and I desire whatever He has in store for me. I continue to pursue Him daily and build a life on a foundation that’s eternal.
